Ghostbusters is one of the most memorable films ever. This cultural phenomenon has withstood the test of time. People from all walks of life and ages loved it because of its perfect blend of comedy, action, and horror.

Now that most of the fans of this film are adults who can finally collect Ghostbusters action figures, collecting rare vintage toys has become popular among fans. Even if these precious memories are in or out of their boxes, a collector somewhere will find someone selling these symbols of their cherished childhood memories.

The Joy of Collecting

Once something becomes as iconic as Ghostbusters, the merchandise surrounding the franchise becomes more than just toys; they become iconic and valuable pieces of history.

If you’ve always wondered about collecting Ghostbusters toys and other collectibles, we have compiled a list of some popular collectibles and their corresponding values.

  • Play Gel: Ecto-Plazm (1986)

Ghostbusters Ecto-Plasm Toy

In 1986, Kenner released a branded play gel in different colours as part of The Real Ghostbusters Toy Line. This play-gel is based on The Real Ghostbusters animated series called Ectoplasm. You can still find some of these cans online in great condition for their age and with original labels intact. The line is available in colours purple, pink, red, yellow, and blue. Inside it contains the play gel and one Ecto-Ghost figure.

These collectibles can now cost up to $2000 each.

  • Proton Pack (1984)

Proton Pack is the official Proton Pack from the show, the bag carried by the Ghostbusters as they did their duties. This merch item gives fans the chance to become part of The Real Ghostbusters team, and it comes with accessories! In 2020, someone sold a legit proton pack, still with a box in mint condition, for $1000!

  • Stay Puft Marshmallow Man (1986)

Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Toy

One of the Ghostbusters Kenner Classics’ first releases is the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. This miniature version of the 100-foot mascot is the perfect way for fans to relive the glory of this Saturday morning cartoon. It is an excellent addition to any old-time and even new generation of fans.

What is even more impressive is its packaging. Some sellers still have them in good condition. However, since it is from the first release, it is a rare find. This action figure reaches up to $1000 in the market because of that.

  • Green Ghost Slimer (1986)

Another of the first edition releases is The Slimer Toy in 1986. Also known as Slimer, this toy comes with its half-eaten pizza, an empty stomach. It could be a great addition to any collector’s shelf.
